Diving for sharks

I love the imagination of kids. I love how they can enter other worlds where everything is simple and magical. I especially love the imagination of Finn Welling. He is constantly making up new games and could pretend play for hours and hours. Lucky for me, he loves to include me in most all of his games. He usually requests that I be the villain or the sidekick and he saves the role of hero for himself :)
One of his latest games that he loves to play is called "diving for sharks". This is a personal favorite of mine. I love when he wakes up in the morning and asks "What should we play today, mom? Should we dive for sharks"?
I don't know where he comes up with ideas for his games but he's got it all figured out. When we dive for sharks, Finn is the Captain and he calls me the sidekick. He gets some goggles for diving and fills a backpack with items we will need. The whole point of the game is to swim around the living room searching for sharks. Once we find a shark, we take it onboard our ship/lab and give it a check up. If the shark is healthy and happy, we throw it back in the ocean. Occasionally, we will come across other creatures that need saving. Like today, Finn performed CPR on his transformer he found in the ocean. Don't ask me how he knows about CPR. Another time we stumbled upon a whale that ended up swallowing Finn. Very exciting stuff. Finn also loves to throw in fancy words in his games, like "extraordinary", "venomous" and "remote island".
I love this little boy so much. I don't like to think about the day he will no longer ask me what we should play. So, for now, I will dive for sharks every chance I get.
